10 days journey of Slovakia UNESCO-sights
Special itinerary for those who want to see the best protected sights of Slovakia.
Visit Bratislava with its cozy Old Town on the Danube and its castle overlooking the wide surroundings. You may discover the town by foot, or we could provide you with bikes for touring in the neighborhood. Close to the town in the Small Carpathians, there is the castle Cerveny Kamen (Red Rock), a visit worth, in the middle of the most important wine region of the country.
Your second stop will be in Banska Stiavnica, old mining town and rightly on the UNESCO heritage list. The crooked old streets will take you back to old times long gone. There are a few castles to visit and old mining shafts that date back to the Middle Ages. As this town is off the main road, it is still hardly visited by tourists. In the east of the country are the most valuable historical sights of Slovakia.
UNESCO town Levoca is still protected by its city walls and shows one of the absolute marvels of gothic art in its main church. From this calm, sleepy town you are able to make easy day trips to the surrounding UNESCO sights in the region called Spis, with its fairy tale castle and churches.
The far north east of the country is very much different from the rest of Slovakia. Near the historical trade town Bardejov (UNESCO) are the famous little mostly Greek Catholic and Orthodox wooden churches with their impressive iconography. You will find the atmosphere here most relaxing as also this region has not been discovered much by tourists.
