10 days journey of Slovakia castles and caves
Visit Bratislava with its cozy Old Town on the Danube and its castle overlooking the wide surroundings. You may discover the town by foot, or we could provide you with bikes for touring in the neighbourhood. Close to the town in the Small Carpathians, there is the castle Cerveny Kamen (Red Rock), a visit worth, in the middle of the most important wine region of the country.
In the natural reserve of 'Slovensky Kras' (Slovak karst or limestone) are a few of Slovakia's most impressive castles and caves. The caves are as a labyrinth deep down in the earth and with beautiful natural decoration. Never one cave looks like the other. And there are the proud castle Krasna Horka and the palace Betliar which have been well preserved through the ages.
Taking a small rest in the High Tatras, not far from the UNESCO region of Spis with its largest castle complex of Central-Europe from the gothic era. Also in the highest mountain range of Slovakia you will find a cave open to public, but this stop is mainly to give you rest during this full and active 10-day program.
In the well developed nature regions of Liptov and Orava, there is one of Europe's very few ice-caves and one of Slovakia's most impressive castles which has been scene to the film version of Dracula, Nosferatu. There are castle ruins hidden in the hills. In case you would want to visit those, we will provide you with an hiking map and instructions.
