Opera performance in Bratislava the new building of the Slovak National Theatre
Giacomo Puccini´s last work takes a very special place among Puccini´s operas and in the entire operatic oeuvre. It is one of those late works, which suggest that their creators have remained young at heart, with the capacity to draw inspiration from all things new.
Turandot is both a psychological drama and a symbolic fairy tale, an impressive pinnacle of belcanto and a brave step towards new horizons of harmony and instrumentation. Staged by a brilliant production team, headed by the conductor Ondrej Lenárd and the stage director Jozef Bednárik, with a cast including several acclaimed Slovak and international singers.
