This route leads to one of the most beautiful mountain lakes of the High Tatras,lake Batizovské Pleso.
High Tatras Kriváň (2 495 m) Itinerary Štrbské Pleso (lake) – Jamské Pleso (lake) – Kriváň – Štrbské Pleso (lake)
Kriváň is more than just a summit in the Tatras. It is the national summit with the same importance to Slovaks as Olympus to the Greeks and Fuji to the Japanees. The climb is of medium difficulty with exception of the last part, which is very steep though technically not difficult. There is no possibility to take refreshments on the way or to find shelter. We take the cabin-lift to lake Skalnaté pleso (1 751 m) which continues on to the summit Lomnický Štít (2634 m) with the highest situated weather station in Slovakia. However we will take the very popular route to chalet Pod Zeleným plesom (Chalet at the Green Lake). This is a walk of medium difficulty, sometimes quite fatiguing, through attractive mountain landscape.
