  Banska Stiavnica (UNESCO)

This old mining town belongs to the most beautiful and historically interesting towns in Slovakia.

This place inhabited by German colonists in the 13th century became the centre of mining science and technology development in Europe.

Attractions
• Salamander - the allegorical parade with historical costumes, evokes atmosphere of old times, and is yearly held in September (from 8th until 10th Sept. 2006)
• The artificial lakes of the region were part of the unique mining hydrosystem.
• The picturesque nature of Stiavnicke vrchy Mt. with marvellous flora and fauna.
• Open-air Mining Museum in Banska Stiavnica will surely attract many visitors.
