Day 1: Bratislava
Arrival at Bratislava (transfer from Bratislava or Vienna airport to the hotel).
Attraction
Bratislava Castle - a former residence of Hungarian rulers including King Sigismund of Luxembourg who was elected as Holy Roman Emperor.
St. Martin's Cathedral - a coronation place of rulers of the Habsburg empire.
Day 2: Bratislava - Gabčíkovo (58 km)
The route leads from the right bank of Danube river in Bratislava - Petržalka and follows the way downstream with secluded places housing plenty of water birds.
The tour will enable you to see the gallery of modern art Danubiana and remains of the Roman military camp Gerulata.
This bicycle trail goes along lakes surrounded by Danubian forests with crystalline water ideal for summer swimming (near village Bodíky).
Attraction
Gerulata Museum in Rusovce, a small village on the Danube that once was part of the Roman fortification system of Limes Romanus province Panonia. The Romans built a military settlement here, and the museum shows artifacts from that era.
Danubian forests (Lužné lesy) are home to rare water birds including the biggest Slovak bird, the predator White-tailed Eagle.
The day finishes in Gabčíkovo with the biggest technical attraction of this region - Gabčíkovo dam.
Day 3: Gabčíkovo - Komárno (60 km)
The tour continues on a good road with nice view of several branches of the Danube, and on the way you may taste some of the local fish specialities.
Attraction
Water Tower and historical centre in Komárno.
Fortress in Komárno - the biggest and the strongest fortification system against Turkish raids and against Napoleon in the former Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
Day 4: Komárno - Štúrovo (58 km)
The last part of Danubian cycling tour in Slovakia offers an opportunity to visit remains of Roman military camp Kelemantia and to swim in thermal water park in Štúrovo.
Attraction
Remains of Roman military camp Kelemantia from 200 AD is surrounded by beautiful nature of the river Danube; this place undiscovered by tourists so far is a real oasis of calm.
Bridge of Mária Valéria on the river Danube enabels a visit to the historical town Esztergom in Hungary with its monumental basilica.
Day 5: Štúrovo
You may continue the tour from Štúrovo to Budapest, take the train back to Bratislava or take an international train connecting Central Europe with the rest of the continent.
